Press Release

October 23, 2013 (Washington, D.C.) The Architect of the Capitol recently announced that the first full renovation of the U.S. Capitol Dome in over 50 years will begin this November. The multi-year project will restore the Dome to its original splendor by repairing sections worn by time and the elements.

“Since its construction, the Capitol Dome has been a symbol of democracy both here and all over the world,” said Committee on House Administration Ranking Member, Robert Brady (D-PA). “Those of us lucky enough to serve under the Dome must also be its caretakers. I am proud to support the Architect of the Capitol on this project. We must ensure this American icon remains a proud symbol of democracy for generations to come.”
