CHA Remembers Fallen USCP Officers
WASHINGTON – Committee on House Administration Chairman Gregg Harper (R-Miss.) and Ranking Member Robert Brady (D-PA) issued the following statement recognizing the 20th anniversary of the United States Capitol shooting incident on July 24, 1998, which led to the deaths of United States Capitol Police Officers, Detective John M. Gibson and Officer Jacob J. Chestnut.
“Today marks 20 years since the fatal shooting that took the lives of United States Capitol Police Officers, Detective John M. Gibson and Officer Jacob Chestnut. These brave men gave their lives in service of this great nation, and we will never forget their sacrifice. The Capitol Police force assumes significant risks every day. We appreciate and thank them for their dedicated service and commitment to fulfill the duty of protecting the Legislative Branch, its Members, staff, and visitors each and every day.”
