Democrats Secretly Negotiate Government Contractor Provision of DISCLOSE Act
Ranking Republican on House Admin Says Move Appears to
be Another Backroom Negotiation
WASHINGTON - Today, the Committee on House Administration's Ranking Republican Dan Lungren, R-Calif., issued the following statement after reports confirmed that the authors of the DISCLOSE Act increased the threshold above which government contractors are banned from political speech:
"In what appears to be yet another backroom deal, Democrats - without explanation - have increased the government contractor threshold by three million dollars.
"This move is just another backhanded attempt to salvage partisan legislation already defective beyond the possibility of repair. They're auctioning off the First Amendment with zero regard to the dire consequences of their actions."
