WASHINGTON – Today, Committee on House Administration Chairman Dan Lungren, R-Calif., and Ranking Member Robert Brady, D-Pa., issued the following statement on the Speaker’s decision to nominate Paul D. Irving to succeed Wilson “Bill” Livingood as the Sergeant at Arms of the U.S. House of Representatives:

“We are very pleased that the Speaker has decided to nominate Paul Irving as the 37th House Sergeant at Arms. His impressive credentials, which include 25 years with the United States Secret Service, make him a great candidate to carry out the important responsibility of ensuring the security of this Chamber.

“Again, we would like to thank Bill Livingood for his outstanding service and dedication, and we look forward to working with Mr. Irving as we continue to provide the level of security necessary to protect the House.”
