Washington - The Ranking Republican on the Committee on House Administration, Rep. Dan Lungren, R-Calif., issued the following statement today after learning about James J. Cornell's decision to resign as House Inspector General:

 "During his tenure with the House Office of Inspector General, Jim has demonstrated an immense dedication to preserving the integrity of this Chamber.  His hard work and tenacity for thorough analyses have been vital to ensuring the success of the House's administrative and financial operations.   

 "I want to thank Jim for his outstanding service and wish him success in his new endeavors.  His passion and leadership will be greatly missed."    

 Cornell's resignation will be effective January 2, 2010.
