WASHINGTON – Committee on House Administration Chairman Gregg Harper (R-Miss.) issued the following statement after the House’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) released the U.S. House of Representatives’ Financial Statement Audit reporting a clean opinion for fiscal year 2016. Chairman Harper said:

“Today marks the 19th consecutive year that the House of Representatives received a clean opinion for the financial audit. I commend the hard work and professionalism of the entire House operations team, especially Inspector General for the House Theresa Grafenstine and her team, as well as Chief Administrative Officer Phil Kiko and his team. Our Committee will continue to work closely with House Officers to push for important improvements that strengthen the financial standing of the People’s House and keep our institution accountable to the American taxpayer.”

Note: In 1999, the House received the first-ever clean financial audit on the previous year’s operations, a trend which has continued for 19 consecutive years.
