Washington, DC – Committee on House Administration Ranking Member Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) released this statement after today's U.S. Supreme Court rulings on protecting free speech and banning ballot harvesting :

"Today, the Supreme Court ruled to uphold the U.S. Constitution, which gives states the primary authority over elections and the American people the right to free speech. Both of which the President and Democrats in Congress are trying to destroy through H.R. 1 and an extreme expansion of the Voting Rights Act. States have the power to protect the integrity of their elections by banning ballot harvesting and Americans have the right to donate to non-profit organizations without fear of retribution. H.R. 1 would infringe on both of these rights. Democrats should use today's ruling as a cautionary tale, not a mandate to pass legislation that violates the Constitution."
