WASHINGTON - Committee on House Administration's Subcommittee on Oversight Chairman Barry Loudermilk (GA-11) released a letter, first reported by NBC's Scott Wong, sent to Cassidy Hutchinson. The letter requests Hutchinson's communications related to the events of January 6, 2021 and the security of the United States Capitol, including unreleased communications with former United States Secret Service Agents interviewed by the January 6 Select Committee.

This comes after months of Chairman Loudermilk auditing the work of the Select Committee, led by former Chair Bennie Thompson and former Vice-Chair Liz Cheney. Documents discovered as part of this audit, which were never publicly released by the Select Committee, directly contradict the narrative put forward by Reps. Thompson and Cheney.

"Former Chair Thompson and former vice-chair Cheney didn't show the American people all of the information they collected," said Chairman Loudermilk. "They only published information that supported their predetermined narrative and then refused to properly archive their records. Additionally, they refused to archive, and apparently deleted, videos of vital witness interviews - including of Cassidy Hutchinson.

"The transcripts that I have been able to recover, and have since released for full transparency, directly contradict Ms. Hutchinson's testimony. I am determined to uncover the truth behind their partisan, politically-motivated investigation, even if that means auditing the entirety of their work and re-interviewing their so-called witnesses. These documents and communications from Cassidy Hutchinson should shed light on her sensational claims about January 6."

The Subcommittee requested communications between Hutchinson and:

  • Former Vice Chair of the Select Committee Liz Cheney
  • Former White House Chief Of Staff Mark Meadows
  • Former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Anthony Ornato
  • Former United States Secret Service agent Robert Engel
  • Former White House Director of Strategic Communications Alyssa Farah Griffin

Background:

During the 2022 Select Committee on January 6th "sensationalized" hearings, ??Hutchinson was the surprise, "star witness" for the committee. She testified under oath that she had heard that Trump had lunged at the steering wheel of the presidential SUV and he had gotten into a physical altercation with his lead Secret Service agent after he was told he could not go to the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Our "Initial Findings Report" released in March shows that four other White House employees did not corroborate Hutchinson’s dramatic account. Additionally, the Select Committee on January 6th was in possession of these accounts, but moved forward only telling Hutchinson's side of the story.

Chairman Loudermilk initially sent a letter to Hutchinson in January, with initial, but partial, production from Hutchinson returned in February.
