WASHINGTON - Committee on House Administration Chairman Bryan Steil (WI-01) released a statement following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn the long-standing "Chevron" Deference and return power to the Legislative Branch.

"Today’s decision finally gives the American people more say over the numerous bureaucratic rules and red tape that impact us every day. For too long, unelected Washington, DC bureaucrats have been empowered to make important decisions that are better made by the people themselves or their elected representatives. Today’s ruling is a step in the right direction to return decision making closer to the American families that are impacted by burdensome regulations."

"As Chairman of the Committee on House Administration, I’m focused on strengthening the Legislative Branch’s capabilities. With Chevron being overturned, we will now begin a robust discussion regarding how the People’s House can play a prominent role in bringing common sense back to the regulations coming out of Washington."

Background:

The Committee on House Administration oversees legislative branch operations and authorizes expenses for House Committees. Additionally, the Committee is responsible for oversight of House officers, including the administrative and technical functions of the House.
