WASHINGTON – Committee on House Administration Chairman Candice Miller (R-MI) and Ranking Member Robert Brady (D-PA) issued the following statement marking the 100,000th American war veterans’ collection archived in the Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project (VHP):

“We congratulate the Veterans History Project on reaching this incredible milestone. Now in its 16th year, the VHP has acted as a repository for these extraordinary interviews. Over the years, individuals, family members, friends and neighbors have participated in submitting these firsthand audio and video recorded interviews, as well as memoirs and original photographs, letters, maps and other documents noting the historical events. From WWI to recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, the VHP has provided a wonderful opportunity to pay tribute to our nation’s veterans, ensuring that their actions and legacy lives on for many generations to come.”

Note: The VHP was created by Congress in 2000 to collect, preserve and make accessible the firsthand remembrances of America’s war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from them and better understand the realities of war. For more information, visit: https://loc.gov/vets.
